Last Night's Gig

Last night's gig on the Risen Lord Lutheran Lawn was fun. It was certainly not our best performance to date, but we had about 90 in attendance...not including their pets... braving the VERY atypical AUGUST weather (50 degrees F or so). At one point the wind was so strong, it cut through any sound coming from the monitors. Our fingers were moving less rapidly than we're used to, but for some reason we played all the tunes a wee bit faster than usual. It was a great experience.

Thanks for the opportunity, RLL!

Outdoor Gig TONIGHT

Tonight at 6pm we will have another outdoor gig at RISEN LORD LUTHERAN. This gig evolved in a very grass-routes manner: A listener from our first outdoor concert at OUR SAVIOR LUTHERAN CHURCH/SCHOOL suggested us to Risen Lord Lutheran, and after a schedule tweak here and there, voila!
We had a our "dress" rehearsal last night. Good thing too, some of the tunes were a little shaky. That's what happens when members travel!

In any case, we'll be digitally video-ing the concert and will post highlights to the website! If you are passing through Elk Creek on Taylorsville Road, KY, (5138 Taylorsville Rd (that's KY 1531/155), Taylorsville, KY 40071) drop by! There will be games and ice cream for all to enjoy while A Soul Purpose struts our stuff!

See you there...in a short while!

Starting the Bus

The drummer of A Soul Purpose is a great spirit. He frequently will look to one of his bandmates after jamming out a song that would surprise the group and say, "Start the bus!"

A Soul Purpose has been starting the bus...and then letting it coast on momentum off and on for about a year now. They have had four TV appearances on a local talk show, two of which highlighted them as the weekly musical guest. Most bands would see that as motivation to push the momentum a little more. Not these guys and gals. The members of A Soul Purpose were pushed by the request of a second outdoor concert!

They are a great gaggle of folks: nearly all are members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Louisville, KY; all have different and varied musical skill-sets and tastes; all have "regular" careers outside of music. Yet they all share a NEED to play music. They are simply fun to watch sing and play both secular and religious tunes.

So this is their extra push:
A website
A reverbnation website
A facebook page
And this blog.

I hear a bus engine...
